Food & Nightlife

Sault Ste. Marie is home to a rich mix of culinary influences, with restaurants serving everything from Italian dishes to Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The Soo's food scene reflects a growing and diverse community, full of flavour and creativity.  You’ll also find plenty of comfort food, fusion plates, gourmet burgers, and steakhouse favourites plus dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. Downtown is buzzing with patios, pubs, bakeries, cafés, and local breweries,    serving everything from gourmet meals to late-night snacks and drinks. When the sun goes down, the city’s bars,  live music venues, and lounges offer a welcoming place to unwind — or keep the night going.

Italian, Indian, Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian, and fusion flavours all have a home in the Soo. Find everything from pasta and biryani to sushi and shawarma — plus modern menus with bold, local twists.
The Soo serves up sweetness in every season. Relax over a great cup of coffee, a flaky pastry, or your next dessert craving. Try something new at Tuomo’s, stop by Kasdan co. for a cozy cup and donut, pick up fresh pastries or breads from Superior Home Bakery, or cool off with a scoop from Gelato Mill.
Local breweries and wineries are pouring some seriously good things. Try a flight at OutSpoken, meet with friends at Broers Jansen, or take in a view with a glass at Thomson Farms' Wine Barn & Patio.
From casual pubs to cocktail lounges, the Soo has a laid-back but lively night scene. Grab a pint, catch the game, or unwind after a busy week. Visit The Whisky Barrel for cocktails and a warm pub feel, grab a pint at Sportscenter, or hit The Roadhouse for a classic bar vibe.
Explore Soo Market year-round with local vendors, fresh produce, artisan goods, and rotating seasonal offerings. It’s more than shopping — it’s a local experience. You can even grab yourself fresh food and snacks on-site. The seasonal Algoma Farmer's Market gives you the chance to grab some local produce and products on Saturdays at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion from June-October.
Go for a drink and enjoy some live music hosted by many local bars like The Tap Room, OutSpoken Brewing, The Whisky Barrel, Wisp Lounge, and The Dive. You can also catch concerts and live shows at GFL Memorial Gardens, The Machine Shop, Sault Community Theatre Centre, The Loft, and Roberta Bondar Pavilion — from touring artists to community concerts.
